It’s that season again, and guess what? I have prom on the brain.

I love looking at prom dresses. I can’t help it; it’s a sickness. A time-gobbling, taffeta-ogling sickness.

In fact, some of you might remember one of my prom-related tweets from last week:

(In case you’re wondering:  tweeps voted almost unanimously for the cute-yet-short prom dress. Awesome undies, for the win!)

Then I asked this question:

Which made me wonder…if I could do senior prom all over again, would I change my dress?

Maybe.  See, for my senior prom, I went all out, and chose something very ball-gown-esque.  And while I really liked it, I kind of wish I’d chosen something a little more daring. Not slits and cutouts and oh-my-god, will-or-won’t-her-boobs-stay-covered? daring, but, you know, more…visually interesting. I mean, you can only get away with those crazy dresses for so long.

Below is a photo from my senior prom, in what I dubbed my “Grecian Virgin look.” Yes, that is baby’s breath in my hair, and those are elbow length white satin gloves. Don’t judge:

My hair. MY HAIR!

And here’s a better view of THE GLOVES:

And still...MY HAIR!!

If I had a dress do-over?  I’d like to think I’d chose something like one of these:

Betsey Johnson = AWESOMESAUCE

More Betsey!

Or, if I just HAD to have that floor length gown, this (and look, you could even sneak an EXTRA prom date in under your skirt!):

Also, this dress really has nothing to do with anything, but OMG, isn’t it gorgeous?

So, what about you? Did you love your prom dress, or would you chose a dress do-over?  Or, if you’re just getting ready for prom now—how do you feel about your dress?

Well, I didn’t have a prom (I know, I know, go ahead and look stricken), so my senior homecoming was my splurge dress. I found this dress: Long Dresses&spage=1&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=10320 (holy cow, sorry that’s a long link) for like $70 on eBay in bright red. I LOVED it.

My only regret was that it wasn’t floorlength.

My school had a really strict dress code, but if it hadn’t I prolly would have gone a little more daring. Shhhh, don’t tell my mom :)

I had a black moiré dress, which was made by my mom. My aunt went all out making flowers out of some fabric, that I can’t remember XD I think that though my dress was great and no one had one like it… If I could go back… I would probably change it for something more colourful. I would also choose to show a bit more cleavage. Back in the day, the only time I showed any was when I shook the pom poms. I would have also tried to wear some nice heels, I combined my dress with ballerina shoes, which were decorated just like the dress… Wish I had a picture to upload. Maybe I’ll raid the albums later and scan one to show you XD

Though I think I would wear something like the beautiful blue and purple? gown that you have on the post.

OMG I love those pictures!! Your dress was so classic! And honestly, I am way digging the rainbow sparklepoof-fiesta dress near the end there. I would be WAY more daring if I could go back, too!

Love the dress! I actually think the gloves look pretty awesome. I wouldn’t do a prom dress do-over exactly but I do wish the dress I wore had a little less back…

And I’m with everyone on the cute-but-short prom dress. The sad thing is…I know someone at our prom that wore a dress with those exact specifications.

Look at you with those gloves!!
Seriously, if I could do prom over, I’d wear that blue/green and pink number! HOLY MOLY I’m in love with that dress!! I don’t really think they had fun ones like that when I was a senior… (at least if they did, it wasn’t in the section my mom and I were shopping in!)
But I would never never never under any circumstances be okay showing my undies in a prom dress. And I don’t like seeing everyone else’s either. LOL.

My prom dress senior year looked pretty good on me and was pretty, but looking back, it was kinda plain. Red, floor-length strapless that poofed out just a smidge.
If I had to choose again, man–gimme that pink-puple-blue-teal one. Gimme, gimme! *grabby hands* It’s GORGEOUS!

My Junior prom dress had elbow length black gloves and a huge satin teal bow around the chest. I liked it.

My Senior prom, well I borrowed a dress from my friend because I decided to go at the last minute, and dateless. The problem was: her legs were about six inches shorter than mine, so while the dress hit her above the knees it hit me above mid-thigh. Luckily, my other friend let me wear her cape all night long. If I had it to do over, I’d've skipped my senior prom, although I adore that colorful floor length dress up there.

When I went to prom, all of the girls wore floor-length dresses. If I had a do-over I’d wear something short…and ask the other girls to, too.
